Record Sale with the Yellow Rose at Christie's Magnificent Jewels Auction


The Christie's Magnificent Jewels auction took place at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva on 15 May.

Famous jewellery houses such as Harry Winston, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels also took part in the auction, which brought in a total of 49.2 million Swiss francs ($54.2 million). At the Christie`s Magnificent Jewels auction, where exclusive collections of historical and modern jewels were presented, there was another jewel that attracted all the attention: The Yellow Rose. This pear-cut diamond, which was mined in South Africa and has a GIA certificate, weighs 202,18 carats (40.4 grams). Diamond found a buyer for $6.7 million, surpassing its presale estimate of about $4.4 million. Christie`s said the figure was the second-highest price paid for a yellow diamond weighing more than 200 carats at the auction house.
